@vineetpunjabi Yes, White Room is very good, especially the solo at the end. Listen to 'Crossroads' it has a brilliant solo/rhythm throughout, its definitely one of Clapton's best songs.

:O i jus picked a random Cream song...white room..its pretty good :)
m sure i have some serious listening to do now ..
thanks soo much :)

@vineetpunjabi Not really but David Gilmour is a great guitarist. Listen to Cat's Squirrel by Cream or While my Guitar Gently Weeps by the Beetles featuring Eric Clapton on Lead guitar. For me though, i can't express how influential and important Eric Clapton is as he believe he is THE BEST.

yeah metal is all licks n playing them fast...
so 6s n 70s n early 80s is all i listen to...blues n rock needs more control...
i love floyd as well....i have never heard much from 50s
do u listen to floyd ?

@vineetpunjabi Nah i don't like metal, rock and blues are the best by far. And you don't have to call me sir. Do you play guitar? and i play blues because its and emotive guitar language, metal is just played fast and loud, thats not skill, anyone can do that, i've played in a metal band before and the music was SO easy compared to the blues because you can't just play the blues, you have to control them.

No i just listen and listen all day :P that is it :)
Sir did u listen to Achillies Last Stand ??? That devil drumming n heavy percussion with that classy solo..yeah zepplin for first 5-6 albums were exceptional...then they started sounding similar... dont u like heavy percussion ?with solos stuffed in between...

@vineetpunjabi Yeh i agree Duane Allman was a great guitarist (died at 24) especially Statesboro Blues. Yeh Led Zeppelin did make some great songs, but i find them to be too similar in each song, and for me Eric Clapton is much more tolerable to listen to. Hendrix is the master but for me blues is where it is at. Listen to Freddy King 'The Stumble' or Eric Clapton's 'Steppin' out' and also Buddy Guy is great too. By the way, do you play guitar?

on the other hand..i love clapton and knopfler..they are soo classy...every note is so well rehearsed .n they copy it in their sleep as well... they dun even go an inch wrong ever .but others like pagey are so sloppy that they cant get it right again..but then stairway to heaven..since i have been etc solos n whole lotta riffs cant be ignored...clapton is one many army.. zeppelin was a band..once keith richards said..zeppelin for me jimmy..yeah the shyboy
-
ohh great to know u sir !!!
Duane allman was a master...m jus 26.... but his live whipping post jamming still sends shiver down my spine....how could some one be soo tight n precise...that was eargasmic... i love pagey...n hendrix for their maddening complexities.. hearbreaker for ex has this complex raw solo which was an impromptu.. never written earlier...these guys linked blues to hard rock...zeppelins picked many blue songs n changed them forevr..

@vineetpunjabi Yeh they shouldn't be compared, every guitarist is great in there own right. I think i was a bit over the top on my previous comment.... I still do believe though that Led Zeppelin are overrated as the Allman Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd are just as good, and Cream are even better. I still prefer Eric Clapton to Jimmy Page just because i'm a blues guitarist myself. I've been playing for nearly 60yrs now, i started when i was 5 so...yeh anyway good opinion mate....
jimmy page!!!

They are both great guitar players. Clapton is technically a better guitar player than Page.
That doesn't mean Page isn't a great guitar player, Jimmy's greatest talent has always been songwriting. Jimmy is the greatest composer in classic rock history. So I am not surprised when people prefer Page over Clapton. To all those that say Clapton is overrated - you are totally ignorant !
