I'm trying to justify putting solar panels on my roof. However, even the cheapest panels are more than $2 per watt. After installation, wiring, inverters, hardware and batteries (or grid tie system) the cost is still prohibitive. I really want to do it, but looking at everything on paper, it becomes obvious that I can not recoup my money in less than 15 years....and that's if I use every watt that I produce. If anyone has input, I'd appreciate it :)
