The Johnny Mathis Hit Parade
Dedicated to finding the long forgotten Johnny Mathis gems of his treasure-trove of vintage hits from the 50's and 60's.

If you stick with me on the Daily Hit Parade, I think you'll find that vintage is where it's at.

I'm dispensing with the photos to the video. I scoured the web to supply the last song and I'm all out. Also, I think it's easier to concentrate on the music when one isn't distracted by pictures.

Our next song, "Autumn Leaves," takes me back to the innocent, wistful, nostalgic, sentimental era of the 50's.

  • Hi, cybernautev, thanks for this gem. What album did it come from?

    All the best,

  • Yes, this is a favorite of mine, too. I believe I remember hearing it on the radio when it first came out. I remember the way he sang "but I miss you most of all (and then very suavely) my darling ..." It comes off "The Sweetheart Tree."

  • Another gem from my favorite singer! Thanks!

  • Your welcome. Nice to find a kindred spirit.

  • I'm visiting again, and again I must say that this is one of my favouritt songs of all time. As a little girl when my mother played it for me, until now. So many exellent singers have their rendition of this song, and I think I have them all! But my greatest favourite of them all is our own Johnny Mathis. This is celestial, heavenly, above ground beautiful.

  • king of the long drawn out nooooooooooooooooooootes..........

  • i remember buying my first LP "Fathfully" and was a fan forevermore. never a depth of feeling more than what mr mathis can exude.........superb.

  • I'm a 14 years old boy, I don't know him, but this song is just AMAZING! Thanks for this. :')

  • sinatra's version was good, this is better. still not even in the same realm as edith piaf, hands-down she owns this song forever

  • Such a beautiful voice and man. I can listen to Johnny all night. AND i do.!!!!

  • I don;t think there is anyone who has ever heard this song who can't love it and then Johnny singing it, puts frositng on a perfect cake,

  • There is no doubt that he is a great singer and I have a few of his records, but for me there is only one singer of this particular song and that is Nat King Cole!!

  • i like how it turns to a cuban bolero.

  • I just last evening played his Nashville cd, A NIght To Remember, and Because You Loved Me........some of his new amazing pieces, and i sit here tonite and suddenly had a desire to go back in time and remember along with all of you where he started. I'm 61, discovered him at 12, and never went back. There will never be adequate words to equal what a gift from such a precious soul. We have been truly blessed.
