Ask a participant to choose any nine cards from a standard deck of 52 cards.
Ask the participant to place the chosen card on top of the nine cards.
Place the remaining cards on top of the nine cards.
Tell the participant you will make four piles of cards.
You will start counting backwards out loud from 10. (10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
If you call out the same number as the card you turn, stop and start a new pile.
If you do not call out the same card by the time you reach the number one, block the pile by putting a card on top of it.
Follow this procedure until you have four piles.
