Martin Williams joined the department of Physics at the University of Guelph as an instructor in 2005. As a Commonwealth Scholar he earned his Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from Imperial College, University of London. Over the past 20 years, he has enjoyed a wide and varied international teaching career having previously taught in the U.K and the Caribbean. Williams has been nominated for TV Ontario's Best Lecturer Award in 2009 and 2010 in recognition of his impact on students, and passion for teaching. He is dedicated to innovative uses of technologies in physics education as a mechanism for interactive student engagement. Currently, Professor Williams is a collaborator in a University of Guelph research initiative with Maplesoft that looks to develop sustained learning beyond the classroom.
