An easy-to play, but very impressive voluntary by English composer Henry Purcell (1659?-1695), arranged for organ by Lani Smith.
This is one of the organs that I play as an organist. It is in the pilgrimage church in Maria Limbach in Lower Franconia, not far from Bamberg. The organ was built in 1756 by the famous Franconian organ builder Johann Philipp Seuffert (1693-1780) from Würzburg and is still basically intact. The church is no less famous, it was designed by Balthasar Neumann.
The stops I use here are: Prinzipal 8, Copel 8 (like a stopped diapason), Octav 4, Superoctav 2, Quint 3 and Mixtur IV (1ft.). This combination of stops produces the typical baroque sound of the organ.

  • Thanks, Roy, Merry Christmas to you, too.

  • Such a lovely church and a very nice organ you have there.

Where can I get this transcription?

  • It's from a collection called "Festliche Musik für den Kirchenorganisten" published by De Haske Publications BV (Netherlands). It may be pretty difficult to get outside Germany. If you like, you can give me your email address and I will send you the scanned sheet music as pdfs.
