While a puppy temperament test can provide some insight into a puppy's personality, there serious limitations on their ability to predict how a dog will behave when it grows up. Far and away, the most important factor in an adult dog's behavior is the training and socialization they received throughout their life. Any puppy can be trained, regardless of how they perform on a temperament test.

  • I'm sure there are people that improperly "test" their puppies and make poor judgments. However I disagree completely with overall negative impression this video leaves. I strongly believe it is an invaluable tool for ensuring that your puppy finds the best possible home for their personality! So that they get the right training! Yes, there is some self fulfilling prophesies, but isn't that just an indication that a good match was made? (...continued)

  • @TwKnVeX (part 3) Do you leave it to the new puppy owners? How many just end up making a choice based on "he's so cute" and end up with a dog that is more than they can handle? not everyone is able to run 5k with their dog..does that mean they shouldn't be allowed one? Nope! they just need to find one with the right temperament! THAT to me is what the puppy testing is all about! Finding the right fit so both the dog and it's new owners can enjoy the training and bonding process together.

  • @TwKnVeX Do you give the low energy, no drive puppy to someone interested in getting into dog sport and then the high energy puppy with tons of play drive to the older lady who just wants a companion to go for some slow walks with? No, of course not! Either of those situations could very easily lead to disaster - of course they don't have to end in problems, but why make it harder than it has to be? Without doing an assessment, how can you make that right match? (continued again..)
