San Francsico bus shelters now feature hidden cameras. The Department of Homeland Security recently paid the city $6 million to install updated cameras on the city's buses, but no mention was made of the cameras in the internet-equipped shelters. Does the DHS and NSA have access to the video feed? Is there a hidden microphone too? Signs posted on San Francisco buses and taxis warn passengers that their voice and image will be recorded, so why aren't they on the bus shelters?

I'm sure they'll say it's for our security and we have nothing to worry about if we have nothing to hide. Who needs privacy anyway?

  • you should have no expectation of privacy in public place. If you have nothing to hide you should have nothing to fear.

  • black spray paint will take care of those.

  • well at least people can feel safe when they're waiting for the bus...cause they have the camera on their side. Only thing that sucks is you can't hook up with a girl in the bus stop or some dude at a desk somewhere will be watching.
