So, I was in Chicago from July 10-14 (yay librarians!) and here are some pictures and footage of the street musicians I met. Also, my adventure on the subway!

Drummer: Michigan Ave.
Sax Players: E. Illinois St. on the road to Navy Pier
Guitar: Got lost on the way back to the hotel...I think Randolph St.

There was an Irish pub right next to my hotel, but they weren't playing trad, and I wasn't old enough to go in anyways.

  • Hey 3rdie, isn't it high time for you to do some busking?;)

  • oh, I do. But I can't record when I'm the one playing ^^ I actually find it easier to improv in public than record something for a camera.

  • can't agree. It's not easy to play in the street. I had my busking debut this summer and i was all nervous, forgetting lyrics and so on. I prefer to sing in front of people I know. But still true, recording a video is the hardest.

  • My fingers know the tunes so the music comes easily, but yes, it takes a lot of courage to stand out there on the sidewalk by myself, for people to judge my playing. Also, finding the right spot, and keeping an eye on my hat and the people around me to make sure no one runs off with it. And I'm a girl, so I have to be careful too...lots of things to think about.

  • You're not 18 yet? ;) Don't worry I'm not either... ^^

  • It's 21 over here. One more year...

  • how about some REAL MUSIC not beating on friggin buckets thats no talent neither is rap

  • oh right, usa.

  • actually the mall where I live is more of a long brick street cut off from circulation with a bunch of shops around it. it's called the "Historic Downtown Mall"...... whatever that means. It's where everyone hangs out.

  • Malls usually don't allow it. A street location works better.
