Angela Farrell performing "One Day Love", the Irish entry at the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest.
Despite being the host country, the Irish only finished in 11th place with this song, thus breaking a string of top-10 rankings which had lasted since their debut in 1965. Not without reason, since this is, IMO, a rather weak and old-fashioned entry on all accounts - music, lyrics and performance.
her voice is total broke

No offence to those who like this, just my opinion that this song seemed laborious for her to sing & I find it laborious to listen to. Being half Irish I remember being very disappointed with this song. I think it did well to get 11th. Can't believe it did better than the sublime Sandie Jones a year later

I remember this from when I was a child. I didn't know she had laryngitis, so it's an absolutely brilliant effort from her . But I have to agree, it is definitely an 'old-fashioned' type of song which was typically entered in Eurovision in the 60s and (in this case) early 70s, when victory in the contest appeared to be regarded as so culturally prestigious it enhanced a nation's standing in Europe.

She did & nice to read your positive comment. I know that like Tasos alot of people think the song very old fashioned even for '71. Maybe I just like old-fashioned. If you heard other recordings of this song you'd know how better her voice is and you'd realize how she was impaired that night. Greetings from near Dublin.

If she had laryngitis that night, she did extremely well.

Tasos, well done again for posting videos like this one. I take on board your comments, but I do still have a soft spot for this song - it's a personal thing. to be fair to Angela she was suffering from laryngitis on the night, which diminished her performance.
