@RDELAPLAZA I see that they have now extended the temperature range and storage capacity by 70% by altering the electrolyte chemistry.Right now the way I understand it we have 2 tanks for electrolyte,a cell stack and a cooling system(which uses up 20% of the energy).Now with the new chemistry the storage capacity is almost on par with lithium-ion.More development is needed to store one heck of alot more ions at a wider temperature range.

@RDELAPLAZA You are right I have not heard of redox flow batteries til now,thanks.When I started the Zoleco project back in 2007 I had researched a few differant power options for the vehicle...being an EV was one of them. But I did not want to add all that weight in batteries for I am using light weight technologies as one of the means to conserving energy.I see these redox batteries have been around for 20 years and their biggest hold up is the limited temperature range.To be continued ...

@Zoltanbod Sorry to tell you that you haven't done your homework yet.. Google "flow battery" or "redox battery", the technology is HERE right NOW. Saying that the battery technology "has NOT advanced much in the last 100 years" is simply NOT TRUE.

@RDELAPLAZA You have wonderful pie in the sky ideas for the future.Right now however the battery tech that drives the EV has not advanced much in a 100 years,eg lead acid -energy density 25 units,lithium ion-energy density 4x lead acid at 100 units.There is talk that in 10 or so years nano carbon battery tech will be the answer.The biggest issue now is electrical generation.North America gets 65%of its electricity from burning coal,those plants have huge exhaust pipes .
