Copenhagen: City of Cyclists, Part 1 of 5: Our very first episode of A Billion Bikes, takes us to the Danish city of Copenhagen, which has one of the most advanced urban bicycling communities in the world. A full third of their city workforce commutes by bicycle! This is an excellent 5-part program of weekly episodes. But first, a brief hello from Tour de France champion Floyd Landis, and a fun open.

  • First someone would have to invent a bicycle capable of carrying the average American

    *rimshot*

  • I have not seen one fat chick in this entire video series! Maybe Americans need to watch this and get up off of their ass instead of driving down to a local McDonalds and engorging themselves.

  • What a wonderful city. Imagine all cities following Copenhagen's example. Fresh air and healthy people. The UK's National Health Service would benefit a great deal from a much cleaner enviroment.

  • After watching this I realize some Danes take for granted the convenience and safety of bicycling. It's the exact opposite where I live. Every time I go out for a ride I put my life in my own hands.

  • @TracyMacToDaRack why does everyone alway diss the STATES?? Are we that much important to you all?? why not talk about the UK and Australia, they have a buncha fatasses there too..

  • its easy to bike everywhere when the land is completely Flat like in copenhagen!

  • @KrunchyJD if you wanna drive a bike, keep doing that. I WONT! and I wont pay those ridicously taxes, I drive happly and safely my mercedes

  • @rocados2 Cars impose a huge cost to society. They create congestion, pollution, and traffic accidents. It is a good thing that the government in Denmark puts a high tax on cars as this stops people driving. Why drive in a city? I would much prefer to ride a bike, even in the rain, as I have done. What annoys me, is car drivers that treat me with no respect.

  • @mokulule well, if you like to drive a bike in cold weather, through the rain and snow, then good for you.. I prefer to drive my much more confortable mercedes :)

  • @rocados2 I ride my bike every weekday for one hour in total no matter the weather and I do not feel raped by the government. I much prefer it to the overstuffed buses and the rush hour traffics cars suffer from.

It's feels quite good to get the pulse up at least once a day, but then again I'm also one of those people who prefer to take the stairs ;)

  • @TroWu Der er forskel på at ens accent måske ikke er helt i top, men så længe ens ordforråd og grammatik er iorden taler man jo egentlig godt engelsk.
