I found a dog here in Thailand that we're pretty sure has cerebellar abiotrophy. She had massive wounds on her front legs from knuckling over, and I had to restrain her to change her bandages daily (she was a feral dog I found in the rice paddy). She hasn't gotten worse in the nine months I've been here, thankfully, so I think she may be stable. I return to America in April and she is flying with me. If she ends up needing intervention, at least she will have a loving home and soft carpets.

Aww she looks so happy though ^^
This is quite an old video though, can I ask how she's doing?

I am fostering a 6 month old White West highland Terrior (Westie) with a very severe case of Cerebellar AAbiotrophy....any idea how long her life expectancy may be? And did you have house training issues?? We have 2 weeks to decide if we re going to adopt her...any info would be appreciated.

I am so sorry.
I feel your pain, I believe my dog is suffering from the same thing, a degenerative cerebellum, but my dog Darla has begun to lose her balance, and will soon have trouble standing. I was looking into some kind of harness that might keep her upright. I have tried stem cells (experimental) and I am not sure to what extent it has helped. Good luck. Mary Ann

How old is Darla and what breed? My Jazz isn't at a severe stage yet that she needs intervention and support. Do you know anything about neurophysical therapy? Its meant to help train the brain and better able them to cope with their condition and possibly slow the degenerative progression. Things like regular walks, 'shaking hands' and just keeping their brains functioning on motor skills in general.
