A lovely haunting Galician tune. Just right to celebrate the return of the notorious buzzmonster! It is amazing how nervous I get when I am recording myself, even though there is only my cat listening. I wonder if this ever goes away?

On thesession.org I found this info about this tune # Posted on February 7th 2011 by paulg :
"The composer, Anton Seoane, is a member of the Gallician group "Milladoiro" and this tune appeared on the first album(LP) of Milladoiro: "A Galicia de Maeloc" (French label: Escalibur, +/- 1981)."

You can find the melody here: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4194

Have fun!

  • Very beautiful and nicely played. In my experience that nervousness never goes away! ;o(

  • @MegMerrilies thanks Meg! Let's hope it gets less though!

  • Simply lovely and as you said haunting. I really enjoyed it Mary. Now I need to add that one to my list! I know what you mean about cats...ha ha

  • @harprdh Ha, my cat is my worst critic! He usually leaves the room when I start playing. But I am glad you like the tune!

    Happy harping,

    Mary

    Mary

  • Hi Mary. I like your upload. It has an ethereal quality about it. It must be very interesting arranging music to suit your instrument. Very technical. Cheers, Steve. ps. I record myself a lot when I practice, and this reduces my nerves, but they are still there for the final attempts.

  • Mary,When my triplett harp arrives in5 weeks I will see what I can do. your arrangement is good .Mine won`t be as good.

    Christine.

  • great stuff Mary. This tune has been in my repertoire for 3 yaers I haven`t dared to put any thing on youtube yet.So fear not you are leading the way.

I first heard it on an album by Kristina Olsen and learned it aurally but have recently discovered it on Wandering Folk Harp by Beth Kolle.
