This is me getting beaten in the men's open at Vassar college at the 2006 Tomiki Aikido Nationals.

At the request of some understanding people, please, this is a sport competition, very similar to fencing in aspect (if fencing allowed judo like throws), not a demonstration of self defense in anyway.

  • Are Sweeps, or Koshi's not allowed?

  • Nope, sadly. I would have done much better at the world games if they were!

I had forgotten the old man sweeps me in this video. That old cheatin b****, never wanted to lose to me :-p.

    Miss you Keith...

But anyway, yeah, no koshi waza, or kyeshi(sp)/sacrifice techniques allowed anymore. Keeps the number of injuries down and encourages more realistic techniques (not that people don't still do/get away with stupid waza)

  • I'm in Columbus.

  • hahah, yeah, go play with Moe then. He's a great teacher. Tell him the King boys say hey

  • Nice. Moe Stevens' dojo is here in central Ohio. There are several places that are closer, but I'm still thinking of checking his place out.

  • Where are you in "Central Ohio". I teach out of Mansfield under a 5th dan.
