Noor Jehan's hit songs had much to do with making "Dosti" a blockbuster. Produced by Ejazz, before he was arrested for heroin smuggling at London Airport and directed by S. Nayyer the film is formulaic but sustained by Shabnam and a melancholic Rehman.

@Apexclassiccinema remember this was the mid 70s, the drug laws were not so draconian. There must have also been pressure from the government. Noor Jehan was always close to military.

@AajShubkoo Wow, shocking. The old bribery does not work here, although 2 years for class A drugs is a very light sentence.

Yes, quite a scandal it was, with a leading movie star and the husband of Pakistan's nightingale in jail for two years on charges of smuggling heroin. I guess he put it to good use, producing Dosti.
