Your logic is flawed. Nobody is saying that without religion all violence in the world would be gone and we would have world peace. We're saying that religion is the cause of so many atrocities that if it never existed wouldn't have happened. Atheists don't stone people for adultery, or burn them at a stake for not believing in the "right" God. While moral guidance is not required or necessary from religion, which gives it no benefit other than supporting superstitious beliefs.

They denied the existance of any supreme being. I believe that is the definition of atheist. In communist atheist societies, the state and the people who run the state become gods, so in that sense you are correct. However, those nations executed tens of millions of people for various things, one of them being the "crime" of believing in God. My point was that some atheists claim that the world would be peaceful but for religion, when history shows otherwise.
