The war wasn't fought over slavery.

For the South it was our second fight for independance and we fought it because we felt like our voices weren't being heard.

The north fought it to preserve the union, not slavery as so many think. The Emancipation Proclamation came in late into the war and was only given to boost moral and support for the North.

PS. Did you know Abraham Lincoln was a racist? Yeah, that's right. He hated black people.

Civil War was more about economics and economic independence, Lincoln did not hate or like blacks, he just hated slavery and that the South was going to declare independence's. Almost since America was founded the south and north were two independence body's with different idea's.

@BCraven04 Yep, not too many know that he wanted to free the slaves with the intent to repatriate them back to Africa.

The south was fighting because they were sick of the see-saw motion of the country's politics. Whenever one side had more power, the other half of the country was neglected or abused. So they secceded in order to solve the problem. They secceded because their people were no longer being represented by their government. They were even discussing freeing the slaves before the war started. Sorry for any misspells, I'm on my iphone

The south was provoked. Lincoln sent a supply ship to ft sumpter knowing it would be turned away. He knew this would agitate south Carolina enough for them to open fire on the fort. It was a convienient way for him to start a war without firing the first shot.

I just finished watchin' this movie 'bout an hour ago. It was great. I haven't seen it in years but it was just as good as I remembered.The irishman is my favorite character.As I said about the video "Bringing in the Hunley",this movie helps to put some real perspective on the situation; what those men must or mite have went thru.Thank God they finally made it home.GOD REST THE BRAVE CREW OF THE HUNLEY.

@BCraven04 the south felt its voice wasn't being heard... in the matter of slavery. Its amazing that people are still trying to dodge the facts here. The Southern Traitors were conservative Terrorists, they attacked Fort Sumter with no provocation and eventually were responsible for the deaths of thousands of their own countrymen. All for the cause of their supposed "right" to keep slaves. There's no excuse, there's no reason to defend it now. It was wrong and its still wrong.

Lincoln hated black people, yeh, cuz that's why he offered them a save haven in the north, because he hated them, what's next? obama is actually white, and plotting to kill all blacks?

@BCraven04 You are correct that Lincoln was a racist. It is also worth noting that this wretched Union has never honored any of its treaties with the American Indians (read: Real Americans) nor have they kept the promise of the Emancipation Proclamation. If they kept their promise then African Americans would have been granted a plot of land approximately the size of Texas. The land is still owed to African Americans...but the USA doesn't care about them.

ok, lincoln was a racist, but everybody white or black was a racist, and that still doesn't change the fact that the south were just a bunch of bitches who went back crying to their mommies after the north wiped their asses. i guess a better education, and a non inbred military went along way.
