@kisvarosipari Here's a quick summary of the most common Azeri haplogroups. In terms of Y-DNA (paternal genetics), haplogroup J2 is the most prevalent with about 40-60 %of Azeri men having it, followed by haplogroup G at a frequency of 18 % Others found in Azeri men are T (11%), R1b (8%), R1a (6%), E (6%), I (3%), and some others (5%). Within these haplogroups, some Azeri men specifically have the haplogroups T1, E1b1b1c1 (this one originated in Anatolia), G2a3b1, and R1b1a2.

@kisvarosipari Azaris carry Only 6% R1a Indo European genes , u can google

the highest haplogroup among Azaris and Kurds is J2 & its NOT an Indo European (Aryan) indicator .

Medes were Indo Europeans so they must have had a high frequency of R1a ,however thats not the case of Azaris.

Kurds have both Mesopotamian & Aryan (Median) ancestry ,thats why J2 is so high among them. Kurds r still regarded as IE cuz of their IE language. no matter what .

where did u get that azaris r lighter ?

@PrinCeSsProShaT its because anatolians and people of turkey are mostly kurds and romans. and kurds and azeris are decended from same root(madians) but I dont think azeris have less indo european gene. they are more white than other iranians

@kisvarosipari No the Turkic gene is very low in Iran in general and even in Turkey,but its found at lower precentage among the Turkic speaking population

however the dominant gene among both Turks of Turkey and Azarbaijan is J2,studies show that both Azaris & Anatolian Turks r genetically closer 2 their Caucasian neighbors then Persians

The Indo-european ( R1a Aryan) gene among the Azaris is 6% while its up to 60% among Persians

the Anatolian Turks carry higher frequency R1a then Azaris

since the J2 is found at such high frequency in Caucasus and Mesopotamia ,some scientists consider it as Anatolian some esopotamian but it is absolutely NOT an Indo European indicator

the J2 is reported as the highest among Georgians

in terms of culture Azaris are turkic cuz of lingustic reasons,the same way that Persians are considered as Indo Iranians because of their IE language,but genetically they are more closer to their Caucasian and Anatolian neighbors with higher turkic genes .

the Indo European (Aryan or Iranian )DNA is represented by the Ra1 haplogroup the Persian speaking population in central and eastern Iran are the main carriers of the Ra1 up to 60% in some parts .

their Ra1 IE gene is less then 6% in north western Iran (azarbaijan) ,the dominant haplotype among azaris is the J2 haplogroup up to 70% in some parts like Lake Urmia

J2 is not Turkic but it is not Iranain either ,J2 is 80% in Anatolia Turkey
