In a bit of nostalgia I have decided to upload this series of films made back in my junior and senior years of high school (04-06) for one of my classes. The class was ONN (Olympia News Network), we produced a 30 min show every month or two that covered some news and provided some variety entertainment (which also often presented some news as a part of it as well). These pieces therefore belong as a part of a broader show and some oddities about the way they begin and end and the topics they cover often reflect that fact. For the most part I did all the writing, shooting, and editing for these pieces and I often starred in them as well. I am organizing them by both subject and quality (worst to best) and I will also note the chronology. So if you are curious about my early video projects, or where I come from, or are just looking for some good blackmail material, be sure to check out my ONN Revisit.

This second section is dedicated to the critic pieces I created in my first year working on ONN. This piece was the third piece I ever made for ONN and aired with the holiday episode my first year at ONN (2004). This particular piece earned me a ridiculous amount of recognition. For the next two years this was pretty much the piece that people brought up when they spoke to me, and many of the people who talked to me about it didnt even know me. Because I kind of have a thing for films (one of my secret passions) and because I was brutally tired of taking the news stories no one else wanted quickly set myself up to do a movie review show. This show had all the major issues I encountered with ONN over my two year run. For starters I was supposed to review films people would actually be interested in watching (i.e. nothing too old or obscure) and I couldnt review any films with an R rating. I was also expected to review at least a few films, but I was only given two and half minutes to do it (and even getting that length of time was really a matter of me being the director on the show and forcing the issue). The result was these glib brief assessments of each film. This piece continued my tradition throughout the whole of my first year at ONN of only casting myself in pieces because I wasnt willing to ask anyone to be in them. Eric Oderman was the only person I was even willing to show my piece to before the show aired and it was on his suggestion that I included the titles for each of my clichéd adjectives describing the films.

Fun facts: 1. At around the time this came out I was in a Tom Stoppard play called The Real Inspector Hound in which I played Moon, a disgruntled theatrical critic with a British accent. 2. This is actually the second version of this piece I filmed. In the first version I gave the show the name Searching for Roger Ebert, I spoke with an extremely poor British accent (I like to think I did a better job in the play), and I rated movies on an eggnog scale by pouring eggnog into a glass when a film pleased me and drinking the eggnog when it displeased me (the eggnog scale was extremely difficult and time consuming). Needless to say I took one look at the rough cut and was so horrified I rewrote it and re-filmed it.
