@myrecord collection.... I am not privy to any details regarding compensation but I can tell you the band members were consulted about the Akarma reissue and the ones I talked too seemed truly flattered by the interest and excited to get their music out there again. My box set was a gift given to me from two of the members.

I never complained about spending 20 dollars on a CD, dumbass. I was just saying that's a little much to be the minimum price for one on the internet, in order to suggest that it might not still be in print. I also said I got mine for ten or fifteen, and didn't complain at all. You're a retarded dickhead, what the hell is your problem?

Yeah, feed your minds!!! Excellent!

@shkinney420 i'm sure paying $20 for a bag of weed is no problem for you. Yet you'll grouse about spending $20 for a CD that will give you years of use is an issue,,,interesting...

Akarma is a bootleg crook theif record label. My 2 cousins were in a band called Phafner & Akarma bootleged their album. Rockadrome records is a great psyck reissue label. Check em out!!

Being personal friends with the two main vocalists of this band I can assure any naysayers that every member of this highly underated band was contacted about this re release! These guys are humble hardworkers that were flattered to be contacted about re releasing their tunes and played them live in 2000 @ the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they blew the roof off the f'ing place! Outstanding people and outstanding musicians, top to bottom and although I got my box set for 0 I'd have paid $20+

So what you're saying is, the band WAS consulted for the Akarma CD reissue and that it is NOT in fact a bootleg release?

The material released by Akaram, by DOAB, including the box set, was a completely unathorized release and amounted to "theft of inrtellectual property". That is not unuaual for Akaram, they've done the same to quite a few other artist of the era.

Yeah, that was my impression also. Some of Akarma's stuff is pretty nice, but it definitely seems like a not-quite-legitimate label.

and he says: "We as a group are extremely flattered and appreciative that Akarma put forth such a wonderful job in re-packaging the product." So it looks like the group members were paid for this, at least...but I don't know, nothing is really clear about any of this. The CD is still available new online, but the prices are high; lowest I could find was twenty dollars. Sorry for the consecutive long posts. Expect another one in a few weeks or so, though; I'm going to do some more research....

Huh, okay. Cool. Maybe we can say Akarma is quasi-legitimate: somewhere in between your typical USA media conglomerate and a bootleg label. Ultimately I'm obviously not that worried about copyright since I posted this copyrighted material here, but I'm more concerned about availability. Supposedly the point of this video is to make otherwise unavailable music available, or at least rare music available to a larger audience
