When Queen Anne's County High School began implementing certification nine years ago, five students certified. Now in the county, both high schools certify over 200 students each year, which accounts for about 20% of the student population. Through the help of Carl Perkins grant funding, students leave high school with certifications in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. Administrators, teachers, parents and students realize these applications play a major role in being successful not only in the classroom, but also in other areas of academics and even in the workplace.
