This is a clip from Technocalyps, a documentary in three parts about the exponential growth of technology and trans-humanism, made by Hans Moravec. The documentary came out in 1998, and then a new version was made in 2006. This is how the film-makers themselves describe what the movie is about:

"The accelerating advances in genetics, brain research, artificial intelligence, bionics and nanotechnology seem to converge to one goal: to overcome human limits and create higher forms of intelligent life and to create transhuman life."

You can see the whole documentary here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKvyXBPXSbk. Or, if you're more righteous then I am, you can order the DVD on technocalyps.com.

  • @davidfordapple In truth you would not be able to compare a processor to a brain because the brain cannot be measured. You can however use speed of computation. Which is the computers real strong point and the brains downfall. The brain is good for recognition, motion control, and multitasking. The computer good for logic, mathematics, and recording. I guess you could consider them equal in usefulness but shear processing power still goes to the computer.

  • @xtranormal23 look up human body pushing the limits brain power. watch the whole thing then reply to me

  • @davidfordapple What makes you think that? Computers can solve equations that would take humans a lifetime in a few seconds. I think it might take 50,000,000 brains to match one top-of-the-line processor.

  • @ninjakid09 By a positive feedback loop. Smarter minds are better at developing smarter minds.

  • thats imposible coz if someone makes it then how could it surpass it

  • OK THEY SHOULD NEVER CREATE A MACHINE THAT SURPASSES THE HUMAN BRAIN

  • We would need about 50,000,000 processors to match the human brain

  • Good luck with making a computer like the human brain. This guy has no idea what he's up against. Say that we have a dual core processor clocked at 2.0 ghz. S

  • Just thinking of computer engineers working together to make themselves even more intelligent gives me the creeps and blows my mind all at once.

  • we can speed up our evolution with genetic engineering :)
