A tutorial on how to tie dye fondant and a demonstration on using The Mat by Sweetwise.

The Mat can be purchased from: http://shop.sweetwise.com/tools/fondant-silicone-mats/the-mat.html
The Fondant I used in this video is Satin Ice brand, the one I prefer for my cakes. You can purchase this high-quality brand in many online and retail locations that specialize in cake decorating supplies. I typically purchase my fondant from Global Sugar Art: http://www.globalsugarart.com/cat.php?cid=799&s=&name=SATIN%20ICE%20R...

I hope that clears up any questions! Feel free to message me or leave a comment with any other questions!

  • Hello I made a Swiss meringue Bcream, and its Very soft, when you cover your cake doesnt make marks or holes when you touch it?. can we used a soft Bcream when we cover a fondant cake?

  • @cvilla97 Swiss Meringue Buttercream is much softer than an American Buttercream... but you can still cover it with fondant! The beautiful thing about it is how it hardens up when cold... so refrigerate your cake until your icing had hardened and then you can cover it with fondant without any problems! I actually find it makes it easier to smooth the fondant because you have a nice hard surface to press against :)

  • I feel as if my money was wasted on this product. I am sure there are others who feel as I do, but there are many who will love it.

  • @madeitwithlove I'm sorry you feel you've wasted your money on the product, you may want to contact Sweet Wise to see what their refund policy is. However, it could just be that the fondant you are using, just isn't compatible with the Mat. If you want to give it another shot, maybe try a different recipe or product. BTW- I am not affiliated with Sweet Wise in anyway, just demo-ing and reviewing a product I love! I know I gush about it, I must sound like a sales person, lol!

  • I love this video, so colourful, but I can't say I've had a lot of luck with the Mat. Rolling out using the Mat is heavy going because not only is the fondant being rolled, so is the mat too. I now just use it for rolling out on. It does however help with attaching the fondant to the cake since the whole thing can be lifted and placed on to the cake. I find too a problem with fondant not wanting to release even though I have cure the mat with white vegetabe fat.

  • @madeitwithlove Hi There! I'm sorry that you haven't had a great experience with the Mat. May I ask what type of fondant you are using? When I FIRST got my Mat, I was using my MMF recipe and did not have any luck with the Mat, it sat unused mostly... but then I ordered some Satin Ice fondant and it was a world of difference! It worked just like the video from Sweetwise. I never had difficulty rolling the fondant though, so I'm sorry I can't offer any advice on that front :(

  • @HappyCakesBakes I bought my mat from a British cake decorating company last year, refunds now would not apply. I didn't use it until January of this year when I had to cover a couple of very large cakes. It wasn't until then that I encountered the problem. In fact it took me so long to roll out the fondant using some force that I became exhausted from the sheer exertion. I was quite ill for a few days from the strenuous exercise and had to rest up. Tnx for your interest.

  • @HappyCakesBakes Thank you for getting back to me, that is so kind of you. I use Renshaw's or Regal Ice fondant which is of professional quality. In England we don't have Satin Ice, importing it from the US is financially not viable for home bakers like my self. If you have any advice which might make my experience of this tool more pleasant, I will be most grateful. Thank you for your response.

  • @HappyCakesBakes I checked it out already. I show the link to someone who is in the business. She said she is going to get it for her. It is like answer to my prayer. If there will be less use of crisco or powder sugar, I am all for it.

  • @t2mar4 I LOVE my Mat!! I've included a link in the description box, where you can buy it. It really has made my job as cake decorator SO much easier (and cleaner!)...
