tea baggers outraged by the big bad govt.-going back to the new deal under FDR texas got big govt. contracts- LBJ's backers brown and root, murchinson, hl hunt,nasa, big oil, bell hellicopter, etc-these federal contratcts all ran up the deficit, he also carried out jfk's civil rights agenda- jfk was hated by conservatives in the south. add in social security- medicare- public educ.- if it was not for "big govt"- texas would still be horse and plow.
