The Monroes -- Tony Ortiz (lead vocals), Bobby Monroe (bass), Jonnie Gilstrap (drums), Rusty Jones (guitar), and Eric Denton (keyboards) -- made their national television debut in 1982 when they appeared on the Merv Griffin Show and performed their smash hit song "What Do All The People Know," a timeless, unforgettable, and irresistibly catchy New Wave pop/rock tune which remains a staple of Classic Rock music stations to this day.

  • I heard this song on a New Wave complication a few years ago and it is my definition of exactly what "New Wave" sounds like. Thank you Tony!

  • Mr. Ortiz, I want to tell you and your band what an awesome song you have. It is so relate able. I was a Junior in High School when this came out. I was into a sweet girl at the time and she was giving me half her time, because she had a boyfriend that would not break up with her. Anyways, your song described that on/off again romance we had. Im 46 and when I hear your song, I go back to 1982 again.

  • Tony, this song is one of my favorite songs from the eighties. I remember when I first heard it on the radio, I couldn't stop singing it. It's just a great, uplifting, fun song. Any chance for a Monroes reunion?

  • Hi Tony. I bought the album when I first heard the song back when I was about 12 years old. Years later, when I went away to college, I brought the album with me. I used to love to play the song for people that I was pretty sure had never heard it. Everyone I played it for loved it and was blown away when they heard it. Great memories. One of the greatest song ever. Thank you for making it.... woover101
