Bose L1 compact available here... http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/PA-Mics-and-Vocals/PA-Systems/sc1196/p9749.aspx We've all heard of Bose right ...? We probably associate them with high end domestic hi-fi and for the older musicians amongst us we can probabaly remember back to the 70's and 80's when Bose had their own PA systems. Well now there's a new generation of Bose speakers specifically developed for musicians and for live performance, it uses the technology that Bose have become globally famous for over the last 30 years - and what's special about this sytem you ask ... ? Read on and and all will be made clear .....

The L1 Compact system combines conventional PA and monitors into one sleek unit. Positioned behind or to the side of a performer, DJ or presenter, it delivers wide, even sound coverage throughout the stage area and audience—even off to the extreme sides. It's the smallest, lightest, easiest-to-set-up Bose L1 system available weighing in at just 29 pounds.

Ok, here's the technology bit after which I'm supposed to say ... "Because you're worth it ...." The Bose compact system breaks down into 3 sections, firstly there's the Power Stand which essentially is the base section of this system that the speaker tower clips into, this section provides all of the power connectivity and routes the audio signal via the on-board amplifier, through the two channel mixer and on to the speakers which are housed within the two section tower that slides into the base (Power stand).

The next piece to be connected is the Portable Line Array speaker tower (their description - not mine ...) which contains the Bose Cylindrical Radiator speaker system - in its most basic format this is a tower of speakers which are stacked one on top of the other but with each speaker angled at 45 degrees to the left or right of each other. The science behind this thought process is that it provides a much wider sound dispersion and Bose claim that this system provides a sound spread of up to 180 degrees and gives greater clarity and sound penetration to the back of the venue.

Advantages of the Bose L1 Compact Portable Sound System is that because the system consists of only 3 or occasionally 4 pieces/sections it takes no more than 5 minutes to set-up and is easily portable. Because the L1 system is located behind each musician and thanks to the 180 degree radiation of sound, the musicians hear the same elements of sound that the audience hear and can hear themselves and each other more easily and with greater clarity, which in turn allows the stage volume to be lower. Furthermore the low, wedge-shaped pattern of sound waves from the Cylindrical radiator speakers send very little sound to the upper walls and ceiling of the venue ensuring minimal reverberation.

The system's power stand includes an integrated bass speaker and amplifier, plus a built-in mixer providing a total of four inputs and two outputs. Channel 1 is a microphone input with a customised ToneMatch preset for a hand-held dynamic microphone. The preset automatically optimises a hand-held microphone's tone when used with the L1 Compact system. Channel 2 accepts up to three inputs at once, including a guitar, keyboard or other instrument, DJ mixer, MP3 player, laptop or projector. It also features a customised ToneMatch preset to optimize the sound of an acoustic guitar .... Come and check out this amazing Bose System now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...

  • Single unit Mono? so i would need 2 for Stereo, here in the UK That is £1800:00 for a Stereo Pair?

  • @576ito1080p The sound spread from one unit is very wide and even so you get a great result from just one. It feels as if the sound is coming from all around rather than from 2 point sources. When we demo the Bose L1 most musicians prefer the feel and quality to a traditional pair of speakers.

Basically if you are a performing acoustic player, folk, sax, solo artist, singer, keyboard player, aerobics, classroom etc you owe it to yourself to check out one of these, they save so much hassle.

  • Thank you for sharing this. Now I have a much better understanding of the system. I look forward to trying it. Best,

  • @KRAFTiMAC Thanks, every time we demo it instore, people can't believe their ears, they just stare at it in amazement. Go try it !! Its brilliant, honest !! Worth every penny.

  • does it work for bass

  • @WiiGamerof1995 yes, good bottom end and definition.

  • If they do a white version, you could have the subs in front of the stage and put the white arrays on the stage and uplight them.

  • It's cool but that statement by Pat's engineer at 7:32 is crazy. Pat never got the right sound, all those decades, until he tried this? Uh huh....

  • @bennichawes thats a good question. I would love to know the answer. Please advise us!!

  • @NevadaMusicUK Q: if you use the speaker for e-piano (Clavia Nord Piano) that also has stereo effects on rhe Fender Rhodes sounds (chorus, tremolo etc.) AND where it's accoustic piano sound is set up so that the low bass notes is set slightly to the left side and the high notes is set slightly to the right side – would I need two L1 speakers or is ONE speaker sufficient? And what about for beat boxing where A LOT OF BASS is needed. Can L1 produce A LOT OF BASS sound?

  • Very good! Greetings from Germany! Dieter

  • Damn, what a novel use for the system. That woul be one overkill Guitar Amp. Phenomily better highs than any other guitar amp out there. Thats because the usage was never that intention.

  • what settings should i use to optimize the sound of my electric guitar? for instance, should i plug into channel 2 (kind of obvious, i know) and use the tonematch setting (instead of the line level)?

  • i agree whit the video but its not for any kind of dj
