so which is better esp or gibson

I don't consider either better, just different. Personally, I like Gibson's version of the Explorer better, the ESP's are too pointy for my taste. The older EXP models they made when Hetfield was an endorser are my faves of the ESP models of their time though.

Hey i wanted to buy a Explorer ... but then saw I could buy bodies seperatly at Warmoth... do i NEED a finish on the body? It doesnt look like you have a finish on yours? I want to just buy the body cause I have a neck and all the hardware .... minus the body :P and the paint was kinda expensive (for what im looking to do) (ie - trash guitar)

Actually, there's a funny story behind the finish....Originally I was going to put a high gloss finish on it, but I could never figure out how to do it, so for months, I was putting this stuff called "Wood Conditioner" on it every few weeks to bring the grain out. Well, one day I left the can open, and it turned into this sticky glue-like stuff, but being cheap, I still used it, and it acted as a wood sealer, lol. So what sealed the wood is dried up wood conditioner.
