In this video I explain why parrots are just as good as dogs and ask the question... Why are birds neglected by animal cruelty laws while dogs are in the news if you so much as kick one? By the way, the bird in the video is so intelligent that she has decided who she wants as a caretaker. 6 months ago, this bird would have ripped my fingers off if I tried the tricks in the video. When one saves an aggressive dog, how long does it take to "rehabilitate" them? Most would answer, "It takes time and patience". So why is it that this time and patience is so worth it for a dog but not worth it for the only animal that will say "hello" to you when you come home? The only animal that will say "I love you" and actually understand what it is they are saying?

UPDATE: The parrots have been rescued and are now safe in Florida. Thanks to everyone who supported this cause and to those who truly care.

  • I just saw a video of the Troy parrot "rescue", and Sharon Karnes was featured carrying one of the parrots out. I was so disgusted, I stopped the video and turned off my computer.

Your video is great; keep up the good work.

  • @bigbadbarb Thank you so much for your kind words. We at WOTR care only for the well being of these wonderful creatures.

  • y is there such LARGE comments?

  • I find it amazing that there are people out there who even attempt to justify the pictures I have seen. There is NO excuse, No exception. If any creature, be it feathered, furred, finned or scaled, is treated even half as bad the person responsible should be prosectuted & prevented from doing the same again. END OFF!

  • WDTN TV (Channel 2 Dayton Ohio) reports that the "Troy Parrots" are now safe. To see the newscast, go to Google or YouTube and type the following in the Search bar:

"Birds removed from Troy squalor" WDTNTV

  • I have good news... the Troy Parrots are safe! :D

They're going to Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary!

  • @candiemoses And here is a tid bit for ya. Look up ORC 1717.13. It basically states that ANY person seeing an animal being abused or neglected may enter a property to give it necessary food water or attention and in some cases may remove the animal if necessary. Sound familiar? It is right there in the Ohio Revised Code. Look it up if you don't believe me.

  • Piss poor legislation that allows things like this to happen to parrots while protecting dogs and cats. That is what this video is about and that is what Wings Over the Rainbow wants to see happen. I really don't care what other people have done because it is not in my control. And I don't condone illegal or unethical actions because it only hurts our cause anyway. We care about the parrots. No more no less.

  • @candiemoses This TWICE now. Did people not see the first time this happened that this man should not have birds? I don't care if it was only 7 dead. ONE dead is ONE TOO MANY! I have 4 birds myself and would NEVER EVER let them be neglected and abused like that! That is why bird advocates are so mad. Yes some may be going about it the wrong way. But that blame does not fall upon my organization. Everything WOTR has done has been both legal and ethical. This video is a cry out to change the.

  • @candiemoses As far as people threatening you and such I can tell you nobody in my organization is doing that. I do not belong to Miami valley. I am with wings over the rainbow and we are only concerned for the health of the birds. And I find it odd that there was carbon monoxide poisoning yet the vet said nothing about it when he checked the birds out. All these allegations of dishonest activity could also go both ways. Why did the humane society not file charges? Why has he been able to do
