This is a working hand cranked Babbage Difference Engine made using LEGO parts. It can evaluate any polynomial of the form aX^2 + bX + c for X:0 through N with answers to 3 digits.

For this video the machine is set to calculate the squares of the integers. The video shows the computation from X=2 through 8. It will output 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, and 64.

You must be really limited, not knowing Babbage is the father of modern day computers is a big gap in your history lessons.

Classes and courses and even books and learning materials are still being named after him in ICT and IT...

Epic fail, using a computer and not knowing where it came from.

  • @DrGoodwrench64 Did you follow the link in the description? That link has a full description on how the machine works.

No but you should know you made a mistake. By not reading the original comment I responded to you have wrongly concluded my correspondence to be about knowledge. You should not feel ashamed about it unless you fail to learn from it.

The other person should feel ashamed for saying this video is a FAIL because he doesn't understand what it is that is shown in the video while Babbage also created the very thing he is using to burn someone else who does.

  • @Cityj0hn I never knew untill now, should I be ashamed?

  • I saw thig guys website and u need mad skills at math to build this thing.

  • @TheRCTRAXXAS The point is using one's brain. Might want to try it.

  • ouaa i love it i'm astounded a babbage machine how did you did it bro?

  • So is this why I should take calculus? Statistics is confusing enough.

  • dude thats sick! plz make a tutorial on how to build plllz!
