Here is my pretty Bea. She is a rescue that came to me at age 21, she was a mess emotionally, and physically. She loves Harrison's Bird Food Mash. To encourage her to eat when I first brought her home, I would clink the spoon against the dish. The conditioned response was to eat. I still use this trick. Half way through the video, she walks away, I clink the spoon and she goes back to eating. I attribute her good health to this food and of course my TLC.

  • Hello!

I got a question, I have a finch and I'm was planning to give him Harrison's mash pellets.

In your video it seems like you mixed it up with watter or some other liquid.

Why did you do that? or are you supposed to mixe it up with some watter??

  • @HorsezLover I mix it with hot water for my larger birds, like a warm meal. This is good for rehomes as it makes them feel secure, reminding them of handfeeding as chicks. The smaller ones, I feed dry.

  • @danita4

i was wondering how many Tbs and water do you add to make it like that for Bea.

i want to give my double yellow headed amazon mash. by the way Bea is beautiful and adorable and bless your heart for taken care of her =^.^=

  • @rosealvi I just add water until I like the consistency. If I were to guess, it would be 1 mash to 2 boiled water. I use the boiled water from the kettle, it expands the mash and cooks it. If you use tap water, it has a different consistency.

  • Hello! Bea is really pretty! :)

Would you recommend Harrison's for a parakeet that i'm gonna get from a pet store in the future?

  • In my opinion it is the best food. You can try the mash, but there are pellets, and your parakeet would eat the Harrison's fine.
