WRC's newsteam is the longest running in DC and one of the longest running in the U.S. Only George Michael is no longer with the station, having left the desk in 2007. WRC, an NBC affiliate, continues as the #1local news station in most time periods, yet it is being challenged by former market laggard WJLA.
After all these years, as of May 2010 Bob Ryan is now on another local station, WJLA, in Washington, DC. Only Jim Vance and Doreen Gentzler remain from the 1989 era.

If you haven't heard George Michael passed away on Dec 24, after a 2-year battle with Chromic Lymphomia.

I like how they show them doing everyday stuff, like George Michael holding that punching bag.

Yes, that was in fact the "6 PM" opening from back then. Each hour had it's own arrangement of the theme music, "We Work Well Together." The 6 PM Opening and Closing were my favorite. I would love to find a recording of the entire 6 PM theme. The orchestrations were tight! :-)

I like the clean cut transition at the beginning. Can be easily ripped and edited with a program to insert anything you want.
