The Devil And Daniel Johnston - Laurie

A touching scene from the film 'Devil and Daniel Johnston'. I think we would all want to meet a girl like Laurie

Whenever I see Daniel looking at the video of Laurie, I keep thinking he's going to cry. It seems like we're intruding on a private moment that shouldn't be shared!!!! Very similar to when he meets her in 2005 elsewhere on the DVD, it's a massive deal to him and so raw.

His art. His words. His sound. His voice. His love. His pain. His life. His reflection in us all

good question..but why do people like liver and onions, hunting and fishing, scary movies, football, death metal...its just what ya like i guess, for me Daniels music is very un-manicured,from the heart, expressive...i donno...i just like him...i never really stopped to think why...thanx for making me stop and think!

He's not overrated, he just has a different scale by which he's rated. He's been dealt a rough hand in life, and it's hard to fully see his talent as a song writer because his recordings are crappy quality done on a tape recorder, and he has also battle severe mental illness his whole life. Much like if you handed someone a toothbrush youd get different than a paintbrush. Does it make the artist less talented? No. They just didn't have the right tools & Daniels always been forced to fingerpaint

thats actually a really great way to put it... he was forced to fingerpaint, and could STILL put so much heart into his songs, which makes him a legend in my eyes.
