2005 June VHF contest Maritime Mobile Chesapeake Bay

The Dark Side of the Force Contest Group operations at the June 11-12, 2005 VHF QSO Party contest. We did this contest Maritime Mobile from Jay (K3JAY) and Ernest's (N3QX) boat and sailed for part of the contest in the Chesapeake Bay.

I don't have any score results but it wasn't bad. We were not in the area that benefited from the Aurora flare up, but being on the bay did help. One of the biggest hurdles was the fact that the antenna (mostly loops) would swing, and the weaker signals would fade in and out. Narrow beams would be out of the question. We did head back to the dock during the second day (Sunday) to see if calmer waters would help with stabilizing the signal at all....it did.
