The ads on Youtube are getting ridiculous

Love the honesty. Often people post video's of all the successes but never the failures. No one is perfect even though youtube can sure make you out to be.

Actually I watched the video again and that looks like it may be a 3 phase motor, which would not be very happy running on single phase 220 without a VFD...when you hit 5hp or bigger you start to run into 3ph motors. I can't tell without seeing to tag, but that may be the case since it has three windings going to the cap.

I know you already bought and installed a new motor, but many towns have shops that rebuild motors for around $150 for a unit that size. Might have been a good option

I'm really enjoying the new production value, and practical how to's. I will be buying a generator soon, so I will be looking for that video on putting in a switch box.Keep up the good work.

id check the second capacitor and id follow the suggestion of the other commentor and take the belt of it, load wise just to check the bearings anywhere else aren't the issue, also I find it surprising the capacitor you replaced it with is allot smaller than the original capacitor as such, sometimes the capacitors today are under specified, but admiteadlly something isn't happy there.

well done cody, the best shot

I really like his videos, but the entrances and exits are extremely long. If he were to take a short little video editing class he would see the appropriate times lengths for a good entrance. Other than that very good videos.

you might want to try running the motor without the belts on (unloaded). your right about the capacitor, its bad if its leaking so your on the right track. Make sure you replace the cap with the same mfd rating or it won't start. sedraves is also correct, read his response. Double check the voltage and make sure the motor is wired correct for your building voltage. Most motors can be used on different voltage by changing how its wired, it should have a wiring diagram on the nameplate.

Good honest video! Thanks for posting.

Well at least it's not that dang Cat transmission : )
$20 for the capacitor was worth a shot, it seemed like the problem. I'm not so sure I would call this a fail. In the end I think you still came out on top.

Thanks Cody... kind of encouraging to see that not EVERYONE on youtube gets it right, first time, every time. Your stumble is an encouragement to many... look forward to the update vid.
