A video salute to some of the families who have graced Springfield, the town in which Guiding Light is set, over the years.

Thanks to Blossees, classicGL, GLDaily, jerseygrl0, kerster22, phantom3377, and sara31tx for providing clips.

  • Great music video. I am going to miss all of the different families in Springfield when Guiding Light goes off the air.

  • Thank you. I think that one of the best things about GL is that there was a real sense of family right up until the end.

  • thank you

  • You're welcome. :-) Thank you for watching.

  • I was so excited, yet so terrified, when Ed came back in time for Rick's wedding and I cried all through those moments. And then Roger, Holly, and Blake. Man, that Thorpe family didn't have many happy moments, but the ones they did have were incredible to see. It was always incredible how good it was to see Roger happy, despite how much of a jerk he could be at times. Alan-Michael and Lucy, Nick and Susan, wow! Brings back some great memories!

  • Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. :-D

  • Is there a Part 6 ?

  • great vid!

  • AWW LITTLE MArrah abd Sgabe and MIcheelle

  • that was Tony and Annabelle's wedding.

  • -- it's still nice to see on TV families played so well as they were on GL (in both good & bad times) -- it will be the thing that will be missed the most (at least imho). It's a reminder that the most important "guiding light" in every person's life is their family members & their homes.

BTW, was that last clip from Ed & Mo's 1983 marriage?

  • Yes, thank you.

One of the things I will miss the most about the departure of "Guiding Light" (& this is despite the fact that at times GL didn't always live up to that) is it's use of having most of it's characters being in a family (yeah, I know some of those families were messed up & all). But it what endeared me to the show when I first started watching it as a teen back in 1976.

Even though I come from a large family & we generally keep in touch
