Dr. Jiang and his investment team were consistently among the top performers at SAC Capital managing over $1.5 billion in global macro strategies. Previously, at Lehman Brothers, his investment team accounted for over 50% of the global P&L for Lehman's Foreign Exchange Department.
In this video, Ping recounts surviving the Lehman trap after launching the Ping Exceptional Value Fund in 2008, and how he managed to return 193% (unleveraged) in 2009.
Ping's fund - a global macro hedge fund focusing on Latin America and Asia Emerging Markets is managed from New York and Shanghai.
This portrait also offers fascinating insights how highly skilled, Western-trained Chinese experts build China's future financial powerhouses.

  • @MatthiasKnab I think the reason Tong didn't get a cent was because he naively signed away his rights to sue SAC when they hired him -- there was an arbitration clause that made it impossible for him to sue for damages even in the event of of unspeakable harassment, like having whiteboard markers shoved up his rectum, and being used by Ping Jiang as a human toilet. It's a sad story.

  • @lwglwglwg he actually has a very cool accent.

  • I know Dr. Jiang is ethnic Chinese but he speaks with an accent that sounds almost the same as that of a Korean friend of mine. Maybe his wife is Korean?

Anyway, good interview. Thanks for posting!

  • This video got a lot of attention from the likes of the New York Post and others, who certainly had Ping Jiang on their "watch list" following a lawsuit of former SAC trader Andrew Tong against Ping and SAC.

What these media did not mention is that Tong's case against SAC was closed last year, and an investigation into his claims by the Equal Opportunity Commission also dried up. Tong didn't get a cent.
