Using Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro and color correcting, I shot this using a Canon XL1s with a 16x lens in 16:9 Frame Mode to give it a film-look effect. I was very impressed with the results.

  • Have a look at my 16:9 Hd Cinematic Test

    of Canon Xl1s

    Inspired By this

  • @brenan6 The 5D costs more than this camera. Thus your point about follow focus is invalid. XLR input?

At the end of the day it would cost more using DSLR to get to the same level of professional shooting.

You have a point that DSLRs are powerful, and taking on, but your wrong in saying that a DSLR would simply be better than a Canon XL

  • @bigredrobot26 Ok... are you saying that you dont need all that stuff with an XL1? Becuase you would... youre going to need an external sound system either way, only a stupid knob would use the cameras microphone. The follow focus is built into the higher end DSLR like the canon 5D, and why would you need a shoulder mount? The most youd need is a small home made steady-cam. Besides, why are you so loyal to the XL1, its not even HD... what a moron. "hell yeah, SD video at 30 FSP! AWESOME!"

  • @brenan6 Yea a DSLR, along with a full rail kit, external mic, external sound recorder, follow focus, shoulder mount. Yea, sure that would work out cheaper than a xl1. Doche

  • ehh, just get a DSLR with video. looks way better, its cheaper, and its not nearly as douchey as the XL1

  • looks good man!! hey check out my video it about the same tittle!! thank you..

  • I have this camera and I can never get anything to look like it's in focus. Drives me crazy.

  • thts good

im lookn to get this camera and wat is the frame mode and and regular wats the dif

  • Thats why you shoot in the xl1s 16:9 mode

  • Haha, on mine, it distorts it WAYYYY more than a bit. :P
