The only reason they made Ammy genderless is so that the game would appeal to more people ... in other words: so boys would play it too. How pathetic is that?

And yes, Ammy is a girl. Why else would the Brush Gods call her "mother to us all" and Yatsu call her "fair maiden"? Even Issun said "Ammy is very sensitive about her flaws" at one point in the game.

@knightrider5050 i really like your point when i first played this game i didnt even think about the graffics then i tried and saw the graffics and i will admit both me and my sister looked at eachother and said "oh i hope the graffics arent like this for the whole game" but it is my #1 fav game ever and even now i find the graffics beautiful and OMG the story line is amazing ive probably played it over about 20 times no joke XD

@AndyRaslan I actually prefer playing as a wolf then humans. I think wolves are more mobile lol. But there are a lot of games I like playing. Like the Legend of Zeldas. They are fun

@1Dark3Dragon1 I agree so little people have played it, they are judging it because of the graphics and not judging it for game play and the beauty of it. The story line is so amazing. I could never come up with something so simply complex as the stroy of Okami Amaterasu.

@familyguyfangirl I'm a guy, and I played it. I knew the wolf was female from the start - it's Amaterasu's earthly incarnation, and Amaterasu is a woman - anyone can do the math from there.

Honestly, it was graphically superb and very nice and calm, but I personally prefer more challenging games and it's pretty annoying playing a non-human character. Still, I enjoy the videos - this game broke so many boundaries!

@MyIcemaster Look it up before you make a fool of yourself. In game, Waka refers to her as a maiden, that isnt a title you give a guy. Shinto religion, which is where most of these characters, including Ammy comes from, has Amaterasu and the Goddess of the Sun, and all myths that include her call her a female, not a male. In all polytheistic religions, they have male and female gods. only in monotheistic do they call them genderless.

Amaterasu is the Goddess of the Sun in Shinto religion. So in all accounts, Ammy is a female.
