British pop singer Natasha Bedingfield performed with the Muppets for "A Capital Fourth," a Fourth of July celebration on the West Lawn of the US Capitol on July 3, 2009, in Washington, DC. This was actually a dress rehearsal, done the day before July 4. Since the actual event on July 4 could get rained out, the show's producers wanted a clean take at the dress rehearsal, so Natasha and the Muppets performed the song twice. The song is "Sing a Song," which was first done by the Carpenters in the 1970s. This segues into a quickie version of "Yankee Doodle." That's the National Symphony Orchestra providing the music.

I shot this with my Canon Vixia HF11 AVCHD camcorder.

  • Give us the full show!

  • Ha! I was sitting in the audience with my camcorder to get this shot. For most of the show, I was W-A-Y back in the crowd and only got this close because I stayed to the very end. After most of the crowd left, the few remaining stragglers could get close to the stage to see Natasha do a re-take of her performance. This one shot was all I got.

  • haha

    The grouch looks so bored

  • Well, he is the Grouch. Maybe Natasha isn't his cup of tea. Thanks for stopping by!

  • @pvreditor Oscar got excited when Yankee Doodle Dandy started playing.

  • Maybe Oscar is sweet on Big Bird...

  • @pvreditor He's sweet when he's off camera during filming of Sesame Street, that is, when they're not filming the show.
