  • Actually, this was from the opening program of Jack's fourth season on TV (when he began appearing every third Sunday, in addition to his weekly radio show, which aired just before his TV shows), on September 13, 1953. He did have a BIG "guest star" on this particular show, whose initials happened to be "MM". At 3:13, Jack mentions a member of his "house band" [under Mahlon Merrick's direction], clarinetist Wayne Songer, as a gag...
