Hi SBTYROLL, an excellent older speaker the 801 Matrix S3 . I can understand possible bass and placement issue with them maybe getting a bit bloomy so now see where you were coming from. Sorry for perhaps sounding a little chippy . I'm a great lover of ATC and pickup my new 40's in two days time. YAAAAY :-) !!

@portalavenue Granted my experience with hifi is limited - i'm only commenting on my own experiences with placing loudspeakers that close to the backwall (i used to have a pair of B&W 801 Matrix S3, they use up some space for sure!) ;)

To be honest i'm envious of this guy - i want ATC! ;)

Those ATCs are a sealed cabinet design so being close to the wall shouldn't be a problem. As usual people are commenting on equipment they have neither owned nor heard!

there are some speakers that like and play better close to the back wall,one ex, is Cello Legend,they play much better against the back all,but most of the speakers like to have some space all around.

@SBTYROLL They shouldn't all. Most "audiophile's" systems sound like crap because they put their speakers too close to the back wall.
