The Aphaia Temple of Aegina was built about the 500 BCE,
is Doric peripteral and was famous for the pediment sculptures.
The complex of sculptures of Parian marble depict scenes from the Trojan war and were put in place when the temple was completed around 490 BCE.
.
The sculptures of the pediments were stolen in 1811 by the English Cockerell and Foster the German von Hallerstein and the painter Link
, while Greece was still under Turkish occupation. In 1814, Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria purchased the sculptures, and exhibited them in the Glyptothek Museum in Munich, Germany.
We hope that these sculptures will someday return to their motherland.
Let us do together make this a reality.
Let us do the beginning from here:

  • @peoplestandup I wish the same to you my friend

  • Sadly the truth must be told about the pirate plunderers of colonialism & the rape of past civilizations & cultures. Now, that you are all part of one EuropeanUnion, these artifacts should be returned by UnionDecree & all these temples should be restored as livingMuseums to honor the manificent ionic & Doric architecture of the historical past for future generations of Europa to share in the place & culture where they belong...magnificent Hellenes... ; )

  • @rwcbanzai Thank you my friend, for your good words, I wish to become a reality

  • Very beautiful and interesting video about the ancient Greek arhitecture, Dear Dio! I hope in a day, in future, Greece to regain all these treasures, and to put all of these, where is their real place.

  • I look so forward to being on this island and exercising the things I know and understand. I can talk to the rock there and it shows me mimetoliths. I can make anthropromorphic sculptures from stone and trick the eye and get the muses attention.. The music on this is just so right on I become almost short of breath.
