@ojkidie Except that this isn't born out by the facts. The insurance system in the US is grossly inefficient, spending up to 25% of its costs on administration rather than on the actual medical procedures themselves. By way of comparison, Medicare runs at about 3% administration costs. I agree with you about "forcing people to buy" insurance, which is why most countries have single payer systems, rather than a mandate. The problem with using opinion is we're talking about things that have facts.

I respect your opinion. it is my opinion that while smaller less-crucial medical operations become cheaper (which they will, I will not deny that) the serious more complex operations and endeavors will actually become more expensive. I also disagree because forcing someone to buy a product of any kind (unless they broke something in a department store, lol) is wrong and a violation of our human rights. While our health care is expensive, it is most innovative in the world.

@ojkidie gotta say, you guys in the US are getting screwed by your healthcare. Healthcare is cheaper in most other western nations, all provide some form of universal coverage and most have far better outcomes in pretty much any variable you care to name. I can understand being opposed to Obama's plan because it doesn't go far enough, but to oppose healthcare because you just don't like government, that's pretty damn crazy.
