Lynne Cox swam from Big to Little Diomede island in 1987 during the Cold War. It took her a little over two hours to swim across the International Dateline in 38 degree water.
A truly remarkable feat! But isn't this also a little bit crazy?!? How can you know if the human body will hold up with respect to the extremely cold temperature?!
that is f#$@%$ unbelievable.
