Interviewed by David Hartman in May 1981, just as "Bette Davis Eyes" was reaching the #1 position on the Billboard chart, where it would spend nine weeks before winning Grammys for "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year" and become the biggest hit of 1981.

Thank you to the eBay seller/Bette Davis fan who ten years ago provided my father with rare Bette Davis interviews that became my best Christmas gift of 1999.

In commemoration of twenty years since the passing of America's finest screen actor and one of our greatest stars and human beings.

WE LOVE YOU MISS DAVIS!!!!!!!!!

  • Bette Davis really summed up her entire career when she said She never never ever satisfied with her work and that is why she is such a huge Star. She constantly strived to be even better. She was voted by AFI as the # 2 actress of the 20th Century. I think she is even better than Katherine Hepburn who was voted #1 by AFI.

  • WE WHO WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ALIVE AND ABLE TO REMEMBER THIS INTERVIEW WHEN IT AIRED, WERE LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO SAY WE WERE WATCHING A LIVING LEGEND.. VERY FEW HELD THAT TITLE LUCILLE BALL WAS ONE.. BETTE DAVIS IS INIMITABLE... SHE WAS A REAL CLASS ACT TOUGH HARD WORKING STAR.. NOTHING LIKE THESE HACKS WE HAVE TODAY..

  • @truvelocity

...LOL. Yes, Bette loved her booze and cigs. Naughty girl she was. ;))

  • "Where's my Bell Scotch, young man!!!" - That is what Miss Davis said to my husband when he worked in a Hollywood at a wine shop over the phone at 10 am in the morning. Wow!

  • Miss Davis! Bow please!!!!!!! Nuff said!!!!

  • that is what I believe too! Bette Davis is absolutely wonderful!!

  • Morning television is so milk-toast. lol

  • A true Legend !

  • Bette Davis always spoke proudly of her Daughter B.D. Its a shame B.D. turned on her mother and really raked her Mother over the coals. One good thing is that hollywood didnt make a film out of B.D's book.. I hope B.D. saved the money from that dreadful book.. Because she is now irrelevant and Bette's legendary status has remained in tact..

  • This is why I love Youtube to be able to see things like this. Thanks for posting

  • @NFitalianGuy Thank you saying the truth.Your comment was right on the mark. Indeed, very few fall into this category. Today hardly any are actresses.Bette is an icon. Hollywood doesn't make them like this anymore. Yes, Lucille Ball was incredible and so beautiful in her early days way before TV.

  • What an elegant lady!
