  • The bottom line of what I am trying to enlight people with, is that Germany was treated very bad by the allies and the Soviet Union in particular during WWII. Terror bombing of cities and genocide and ethnic cleansing in the east with several million victims can not be shuffled under the carpet by us, even though we won the war and were in a position to decide what the official history should sound like. It is stupid to do so and allows neonazis a fertile situation.

  • mmosberg...I agree that the Soviet system was bad, bad, bad. But to say that Germany was treated badly during WW2? This after they laid waste to most of western Russia, Belorussia and the Ukraine. Which war have you been studying?

  • Dalbert, don't you call me a nazi. You don't know your history. Stalin killed more soviets than the nazis did, and Soviet troops murdered, raped and plundered sivilians just as much as German troops did. It has just been hidden in the history books. Read some books by Beevor, Sennerteg and Rees and you will also see!!!!

  • I hope you don't mind my interceding, but Mr Beevor's revisionist book should be taken with a large pinch of salt. Far better are William Craig's 'Enemy At The Gates', and Marshal V.I. Chuikov's 'The Beginning Of The Road'.

  • K. I know that Beevor created a lot of frustration and denial with his books, but his work is based on research. To my knowledge he harvested nothing but recognition by the established research communities. This ais a big camel to swallow for former Soviet republics, but still a fact. By the way I read Sjukov, and my grandfather met him. Sjukov was also removed from publicity by Stalin....

  • mmosberg. Just one item. Beevor poo-poos the 'Major Koenig' story - yet Chuikov devotes one and a half pages to it, and lest we forget, Chuikov WAS there at the time - whereas Beevor wasn't.

  • 25000 russians died fighting alongside the sixth army and 30000 were shot by the reds for cowardice

  • There was a big war. people died. lots of people. people who didnt deserve to die, and people who did. Instead of worrying about exactly how many people died, who they where, what happened etc cant we just acknoledge the fact that it has happened and make sure that it doesnt happen again? take after the people like Oskar Schindler and Maximillian Kobe and work for the betterment of mankind.

  • @mmosberg Germany was treated badly after world war one. Which led to national socialism, mobilization and world war 2. What started in 1914 ended when the Berlin wall came down in the 80s.

  • Another great & unfortuante city & its people laid to waste by the damned nazis.

  • 27.8 million is the actual sad death toll.....

  • 10 mln Soldiers ,15 mln people,3-4 mln N\A

  • not only saved europe and uk...but the rest of the world!

  • What?

  • Бусурмане пишите на русском...

  • It is estimated that 19M Soviet civilians were killed by Stalin, 13M were killed by the Nazis & 12M soviet war deaths in WW2
