on a jet it doesn't matter because the motor spins the same, there is just a little bowl that drops down and redirects the jet spray under the boat making it go in reverse. but doing this in an inboard can really hurt it.

It does... hmmm, I've done this many times and the engine has never stalled. Maybe you could share with us why the engine would stall? It doesn't make much sense to me since all the engine is doing is slowing down and speeding up quickly, there are no gears shifting.
Maybe you should research your answer next time fuckface before spouting off your bullshit!

@rollercuz... as in there isn't a transmission changing prop rotation to act as reverse, the impeller just shoots out a constant jet stream of water and a bowl drops down and redirects the stream under the boat, boomshakalaka....you have reverse!

@spenatjonas ....it does on a jet, do you know what a jet and the reverse bowl looks like? and i never said the motor spins backwards on a direct drive...i know how this works.
its awesome when you are in the boat, and you see the vertical wall of water lifting up at you
