@lacoste10156 Hey man. No such thing as road tax (abolished in 1937), it is VED(Vehicle Exercise Duty) which car/ tractor/ van etc users pay for their emissions that damage the environment. Since cyclists, electric cars, horses, etc, dont produce emissions then they don't pay VED. We all pay for roads out of our council tax and none actually come out of VED. Pretty sure this would have been mentioned already...

@zivkovicable i have a bike which i use on city roads, i also have a car. i pay the government tax which makes it legal to drive my car, the government pays for roads. i pay no tax on my bike, but the government pays for roads. i would say this gives drivers some extra right to be there. and what exactly do i need to know before using a bike? it's pretty straight forward really. could you answer my earlier point about why we need cycle lanes if bikes and cars are to be treated the same?
