  • Hi Mel,

Really enjoy rewatching your videos, esp this one as my short game has been destroying my score for some time.

I have a Technical question for you which may sound obvious but I was hoping you could help.

If there is a weight shift (some teachers such as Chris Tolson say there isn't in pitching) which is clear in your video, why do you pre-set the weight slightly favouring the left side at address?

    Regards

    James

  • @justjames1111 Hi James, sorry I have taken so long to reply but I don't check my youtube account all that often. I will from now on. I preset the weight forward to eliminate any unnecessary movement in the pitch. As this is not a "power" shot, I don't need a weight shift as I do with a full swing. It also allows me to have a slightly downward blow coming into the ball. Thanks for the post!

  • what is point of favoring left side at address, if you employ weight transfer during swing?

  • @steckleinjr There is no weight shift on the pitch shot. All the weigth stays on the front foot throughout the shot. This helps with staying a lot quieter over the ball and produces a slightly downward blow - which is what you are looking for in a pitch. Thanks for your question.

  • Glad to have been of help!

    Mel.
